I’m very excited to finally be releasing the commercial I created for the Halachic Organ Donor Society. This organization wanted a powerful, non-traditional commercial to not only promote organ donation, but educate Jews about the support for organ donation by rabbinic authorities.

This piece was shot by myself and the talented David Komer with the final shot by David and Ryan Lifshitz. Shot on the Canon 7d, with color correction using Colorista II.

The fact is, though, that the above video is not what was produced for the client. Three more families were filmed and the final piece runs around 5 minutes. I think we did a lot of good stuff in this expanded version, but I always felt my shorter draft was stronger. This longer version includes footage by Ryan and David as well as the family in front of the window and the female survivor by Shmuel Hoffman.

I deeply appreciate the fact that the work I do is for organizations and causes that I believe in and that I feel are doing good things for the world. This HODS commercial brings that appreciation to a new level, giving me the opportunity to be a part of an organization that actually helps save people’s lives. And, not to sound kitchy, but you all can be a part of saving someone’s life by getting your organ donor card!
